Bradford on Avon work party tomorrow (Sunday)

The regular Bradford on Avon work party is tomorrow (Sunday 6 March) at 10am — meet at the tea room on the wharf.


Derrick Hunt describes it as 'mostly light gardening' and he recommends you come with stout boots and warm clothing — tools will be provided.

There are now free parking permits for volunteers — so look out for Lesley Hunt  in the car park (wearing a yellow BW volunteer jacket).

BW work boat loan

The group has the use of the BW workboat 'Vale of Pewsey' for three weeks from Monday 14 March to be used for trimming back vegetation overhanging the canal.

A crew of four is needed for each day so Derrick suggests people bring their diaries tomorrow so that a rota can be arranged.

BW engineers taken for a ride by Avon Vale workboat group

Volunteers of the Avon Vale group who refurbished a former British Waterways workboat used it this week to take a group of BW engineers on a two day inspection trip along part of the Kennet & Avon Canal.

On Tuesday they took them from through the 502 yard long Bruce Tunnel on the summit pound and on to Honey Street.  Yesterday they completed the journey to Devizes.
